About Dr. Paul Allgaeir

Dr. Paul Allgaeir is an Archaeologist and Geographic Information Science (GIS) Specialist with over a decade of experience managing anthropological and cultural resource projects throughout the Northern, Western, Southwestern, Eastern, Southeastern, and Central Great Basin, as well as the Southern Central regions of New Mexico, Sacramento Valley, and Sierra Nevada Mountains. He meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications and Standards in Archaeology and specializes in Great Basin archaeology, spatial analysis, and data-driven field applications.


Paul has directed and managed hundreds of archaeological sites and field operations for a range of federal, state, and private-sector clients. His technical expertise spans GIS data management, mapping, and spatial modeling for environmental and cultural resource projects. He is proficient in Field Maps, Survey123, ArcGIS Pro, Wildnote, Excel databases, and other advanced field applications, integrating technology to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting for compliance documentation.


As part of Environmental Resource Compliance, LLC, Dr. Allgaeir has led multiple large-scale GIS and cultural resource initiatives, including the 2025 DR-4886 New Mexico Private Property Debris Removal Operation and 2025 DR-4795 Cultural Resources Site Record and GIS Data Management Project in Ruidoso, Lincoln County, NM, as well as the 2025 Peavine Trail Recreation Area Restoration Project in Reno, Washoe County, NV. His work ensures the accurate documentation and protection of cultural and historical resources while optimizing data workflows across interdisciplinary teams.


Dr. Allgaeir holds a Ph.D. (2024) and M.S. (2019) in Anthropology with an Archaeology emphasis from the University of Utah, a GIS Certification (2017) from San Francisco State University, a B.A. in Anthropology (2016) from California State University, Sacramento, and an A.S. in Anthropology (2014) from American River College. His analytical expertise includes lithic debitage and tool analysis, faunal identification, and human osteology. He is proficient in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS (Certified), R, Adobe Illustrator, and GPS systems including Trimble, Geode, and Arrow.

Dr. Allgaeir is recognized for his technical leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and precision in archaeological and GIS data integration. His work advances efficient, compliant, and scientifically rigorous documentation practices across complex environmental and cultural landscapes.
